Good Morning !

🤗Welcome to a Happy Friday.

At Sanyu daily - We are concise and precise to help you focus

Lets start with

📆Today in History

In 1972, the Munich Olympics were interrupted by terrorists - ending in a  devastating event that shocked the world. On a brighter note, September 5th also marks the birth of legendary Tanzanian/English singer-songwriter, producer Freddie Mercury in 1946.

🌍 And Elsewhere in Africa...Botswana's Letseng diamond mine, has laid off 240 workers because of reducing global diamond prices.

⁉️ Yesterday we asked about the big political numbers of aspirants and the answers poured in. One reader said 'there is a lot of easy money to eat' . 😊 Thank You and we enjoy hearing from you.

☕️The weekend is here - we shall therefore stick to one news story.

📰 Last week - KCCA, supported by Japan, introduced a new Traffic Management System to sort Kampala's notorious traffic congestion.

Previously, the city relied on traffic lights and manual control by traffic police officers, which sometimes caused 'Kavuyo' during peak hours.

This new system has a Traffic Control Centre with smart AI-led traffic signals at 30 major intersections. Mbu, Its lights can detect real-time traffic flow and adjust signal timings to prioritize congested lanes.

KCCA anticipates; It will reduce travel time, improve road safety and lower vehicle emissions - while providing future urban planning insights with data collected from it.

But we also know the real Kampala challenges:

ℹ️  Like the UEDCL's  sometimes unreliable power.  Can the system be stable enough for Kampalans to adhere and cooperate with it!?

ℹ️ Can the system handle our often chaotic, mix of vehicles, including a large number of impatient boda-bodas!?

ℹ️  How is it integrated with the ongoing road construction projects?

Ebibuuzo bingi - naye answers ntono!

That's it for today.

For plot - ⚽️ Uganda Cranes plays Mozambique today in the FIFA 2026 world cup qualifier at Namboole at 7pm . 🥁 And Fik Fameica will be live at Lugogo Cricket Oval. Entrance is 20k.

Thank You - let's catch up on Monday.
