Good morning! On this day in July 1975, President Idi Amin Dada wile presiding over the opening ceremony of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) conference in Kampala called for the expulsion of Israel from the United Nations Assembly. 

A year later, on July 28, 1976, Great Britain cut all diplomatic ties with Uganda following four years of strained relations with Mr.  Idi Amin's government.

Here is a summary of what's happening...

🚅 Remember Rift Valley Railways (RVR)?  They have been ordered to pay sh 14.1 billion to Uganda.  RVR took Uganda to the International Court of Arbitration for cancelling the contract of running Uganda Railways and wanted Shs. 8.2 trillion as compensation- but court has said 'Nedda'

😎 Meanwhile, a Ugandan wants to be the next Mayor of Newyork City in America.  Zohran Mamdani, who is currently serving as a counsellor since 2021, was born in Kampala in 1991 to Professor Mahmood Mamdani and filmmaker Mira Nair.  

Zohran will run on the democratic ticket for the November 4th election.  Mbu he is currently on summer holiday in Jinja on his 4-acre land near the source of the Nile. 

🏡 In Buganda, Mengo Palace has been awarded the 'TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Award' for being among the 10 most visited palaces and place in the world. This was also based on the tourist reviews and their appreciation of the warm reception received at the Palace.

🏈In Sports, the Rugby Nile Special Sevens will kick off their season with 'The Kabaka Coronation Rugby 7s Cup' to take place at Kyadondo Rugby Club on 2nd and 3rd August.
