Good morning! On this day in July 1995 - the new constitution of Uganda officially came into existence. The document enabled us to return to multi-party politics and laid the groundwork for the 1996 presidential elections.

Also, on the same date in 1976, the UN security council debated Israel's commando raid on Entebbe Airport. The extraordinary meeting requested for by Uganda, was a heated discussion on state sovereignty versus the right to save citizens.

Here is what is happening around Uganda!

President Museveni officially flagged off the construction of the Kayunga-Bbaale-Galiraya Road. The 87-kilometers will cost Ushs 214 billion but will link Central, Northern, and Northeastern Uganda. It will also cut travel times and open up new economic opportunities for these regions.

Meanwhile, a high-level Chinese delegation is currently visiting Parliament, with the Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa, praising China's growing partnership with Uganda as "historic and transformative."

In business, the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has warned that over 2,000 trademarks risk permanent deletion if not renewed, urging businesses to comply.

In coffee news, Uganda is exploring new export options as global coffee prices continue to fall, indicating a push for economic diversification. But the Katikiro of Buganda - Charles Peter Mayiga (CPM), has urged coffee farmers not to be discouraged by price changes. 'Price changes are a normal thing; they always happen - just concentrate on growing coffee' CPM said.
