About the park.

Also known as Liao Shen Industrial Park - It was launched in 2015, to promote value addition and industrialization in Uganda

It has factories for agro-processing (like fruit and grain), ceramics, textiles, and electronics and has created many jobs and demand for agricultural produce from surrounding districts.

As a result - Kapeeka Town has transformed and attracted gov’t investment in crucial infrastructure like roads and utilities.

📰 In more business news .

Uganda and Congo (DRC) - have held their first business forum in Butembo City. The two day event, organised by the Ugandan mission in Kinshasa, was aimed at boosting trade and investment between the two countries.

The forum brought together Ugandan and Congolese businesses and Gov’t officials to network and show case ‘Made in Uganda’ agricultural products and construction material. The occasion was also used to address various non -tariff barriers and  cross border trade issues.

As we talk, Uganda and DRC are conducting joint road infrastructure projects-like the Beni - Butembo road - that will facilitate commerce and peace in the region.

📰 Elsewhere

3 National Medical Stores and 2 Hoima Hospital Staff have been arrested for stealing gov’t drugs.

The arrests are an effort to combat the persistent problem of drug theft and diversion of medicines in Uganda's health facilities.

While the specific details of the stolen items in this particular case are often kept confidential pending investigation, similar crackdowns have involved the theft of essential medicines and high-value supplies like Antiretroviral (ARV) drugs and blood units.

The suspects are now in custody for questioning, with the aim of dismantling cartels involved in the illegal trade of public drugs.

📰 And in sports
