Welcome to wednesday vibes ...

A day we dive into some technology and science news.

But first,

📆 Today in history.

In 1970: The inaugural Earth Day mobilized 20 million people across the United States, effectively launching the modern global environmental movement.

🌍 And elsewhere

In 2005: The first-ever YouTube video, titled "Me at the zoo", was uploaded by co-founder Jawed Karim, marking a turning point in digital media history.

⁉️ Here is yesterday's puzzle and we thank you for the overwhelming responses.

But the correct answer is  'An NGO'

📰 In the news :

The Bank of Uganda has officially launched its Domestic Gold Purchase Program as of April 2026. This strategic initiative aims to bolster the nation's foreign exchange reserves and minimize reliance on traditional, volatile reserve assets. By purchasing locally mined gold from licensed artisanal and large-scale miners, the central bank seeks to stabilize the Shilling and formalize the mining sector.

Simultaneously, Uganda Airlines has successfully returned its Airbus A330-800neo (5X-NIL) to the skies. After being grounded since February due to engine turbine blade cracks, the aircraft resumed commercial operations with a flight to Dubai on April 17, 2026. This restoration of long-haul capacity is vital for the carrier’s expansion into international markets like London and Guangzhou

📰 In today's science and tech news:

We take a look at the guy who has beaten Jacob Kiplimo's half marathon record.

And he goes by the name of 'HONOR'.

The chap ran 21 kilometres (which is approximately 13.1 miles) in  50 minutes and 26 seconds beating Jacob's record by a staggering  7.2 minutes.

But Honor is a Humanoid Robot....which is a robot or entity with a physical structure resembling the human body, typically featuring a head, torso, and limbs.

He was developed by a Chinese firm called Honor to compete at the Beijing  E-Town Robot Marathon that took place on April 19, 2026. And he ran comfortably without any human assistance or a remote control.

As you can imagine - it looks like the boundary between human endurance and mechanical precision is slowly being blurred. We were still grappling with AI's growing intelligence - now we are contemplating machines that could possibly herd humans as cows.

But what exactly made this engineering breakthrough possible?

Number one. Honor's legs are one meter in length -similar to elite human runners like Jacob and Sir Mo Farah, but his leg joints have liquid cooling - adapted from high -end smartphone technology - which system prevents overheating during the high -intensity 21 kilometer sprint.

Number two. Honor utilised advanced autonomous navigation, which embody's AI, to handle sharp turns at high speeds without deceleration

And lastly, new generation solid sate batteries were used. These allowed for the explosive power required to maintain a sub-2:30 minute-per-kilometer pace for the duration of the race.

While the achievement is monumental, it has sparked a fierce debate about the future of sport.

And as Jacob Kiplimo prepares for the upcoming track season, the world is now grappling with a new reality: the age where human limits are no longer the absolute ceiling for terrestrial locomotion.

Thank You and that will be all for today.
