And on the same day - but in 1847 - the West African nation of Liberia declared itself an independent republic with Mr. Joseph J. Roberts - born in America - becoming the first president.

▶️ In sports, Hoima City stadium is now 77% completed. The Ush 470 billion project, to host AFCON in 2027, has 20,000 seats, a 2,000 seater indoor multi -sports arena, a semi - olympic sized swimming pool, a training pitch, a court for basketball, netball & volleyball plus a 1,000 vehicle car park.
