Good morning ! On this day in 2024, a landslide at a garbage site in Kiteezi - Kampala claimed the lives of over 20 people. The disaster was attributed to a "structural failure in waste mass," after heavy rainfall.

And today is  the 'International Youth Day'.  Uganda's celebrations will take place in Masindi District at a date yet to be confirmed - Says Youth Minister - Balaam Barugahara.

📌  9.1  million Ugandans have so far registered for renewal of their national identification cards in the ongoing mass renewal exercise - NIRA has confirmed.

📌  President M7 yesterday arrived in Egypt for a three day official visit to carry out high -level talks, sign new cooperation agreements and attend a business forum promoting trade, investment and mutual development. 

📌 Gov't has launched Made in Uganda (MIU) — a national e-commerce and retail initiative designed to increase local innovation, manufacturing, and market access. 

The goal is to connect Ugandan producers, artisans, and entrepreneurs with consumers both at home and abroad.

📌 Meanwhile, Uganda cranes yesterday beat Niger two goals to zero to go top of Group C in the CHAN tournament.

Goal scorers were Allan Okello 'The Lango Prince' and Joel Serunjogi. We face South Africa on Monday next week. 

📌 And in some sad news;  Mary Karooro Okurut, a former minister, senior presidential advisor, and one of Uganda’s most celebrated female authors, has died. May her soul rest in peace.
