▶️ UNBS has launched a new imports electronic portal (e-portal) to smoothen the inspection and clearance of imports. It will reduce delays, enhance transparency, and lower operational costs for importers.
The web-based system, integrated with the Asycuda World customs platform, automates the issuance of UNBS certificates and the management of fees, reducing human intervention and improving efficiency
▶️ In tech, Digital rights activists have questioned Gov'ts commitment to its Digital Transformation Roadmap (DTR) that was launched in 2023.
Among the targets are 90 per cent household connectivity, 90 per cent geographical broadband coverage as well as 90 per cent citizen access to online e-services, all to be realized by 2040.
But the government has so far only laid 4,000km of the total 20,000km of national optic fibre in the last 15 years.
▶️ Uganda now has more learners completing PLE, Senior Four and Senior Six. This year, UNEB has registered 1,415,817 candidates compared to last years number of 1,319,139, making an increase of 96,678 candidates.
▶️ Meanwhile, Algeria has announced it will offer 210 scholarships to Ugandan students in 2025 as part of its commitment to education and the empowerment of youth across the continent.
