Welcome to Friday Vibes.
And as usual we start with...
📆 Today in 🇺🇬 UG History.
In 1903. The British boss in charge of colonial territories, Mr. Joseph Chamberlain, suggested setting aside 13,000 square kilometres of present day Uganda and Kenya as a temporary homeland for the Jewish people.
The plan was eventually rejected in 1905, but it remains a fascinating "what if" of East African history
🌏 And elsewhere in Africa.
Today is Republic Day in The Gambia. In 1970, the country officially transitioned from a British colony to a republic after a referendum, with Sir Dawda Jawara becoming the first president.
⁉️ Ready for today's fun puzzle?
Here we go...
I have many keys but no locks. I have a space but no room. You can allow me in, but never leave. What am I?

📰 In the news.
The landscape is dominated with legislative shifts, regional infrastructure diplomacy, an empty Stabex station in Namugongo, Christopher Okello Onyum and a high-profile visit from global sports media icons.
Here is the latest:
The Sovereignty Bill 2026
Tabled in Parliament on April 15, the bill has sparked intense debate. Aimed at curbing foreign interference, the bill introduces a mandatory registration regime for anyone deemed an "agent of a foreigner."

Critics, including civil society and legal experts, warn that its broad definitions—affecting NGOs, media houses, ba nkuba kyeyo, ba kadaama, and religious bodies—could stifle civic space and weekend drink ups.
The bill proposes severe kiboko, including fines of up to UGX 4 billion and 20 years of imprisonment for unauthorized foreign-funded activities.
Fuel Supply and Pricing
Meanwhile, Petrol fuel is becoming scarce and scarcer. And pump prices remain volatile due to the ongoing global oil market dynamics and exchange rate shifts.

But the Uganda National Oil Company has assured us that there is no nationwide shortage. It has confirmed that petrol reserves currently stand at 70.5 million liters - which is sufficient for 19 days - And that diesel and jet fuel are in plenty.
Mbu - the Stabex station we met in Namugongo was empty because of logistical challenges rather than a supply crisis, with more fuel expected in May.
Africa We Build Summit 2026
Fuel aside, President Yoweri Museveni arrived yesterday in Nairobi for the inaugural Africa We Build Summit.
Hosted by the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and the Kenyan government, the summit focuses on moving African infrastructure from "priority to implementation."
Key discussions are on the Northern Corridor—linking Mombasa to Uganda and the DRC—and the launch of the State of Africa’s Infrastructure Report 2026, which seeks to unlock domestic money for massive regional projects.
⚽️ AFTV’s "Football Invasion"
The weekend is here - but the biggest proggie will be on the digital media space.
Why? Because the AFTV (formerly ArsenalFanTV) crew, led by Robbie Lyle, Lee Judges and Cecil Jee Thomas will be doing a six day tour of Uganda.

Touching down today, the delegation will start with a massive Watch Party at Kati Kati for the Arsenal vs. Newcastle match 2moro - Saturday 25th April.
Beyond football, the crew will conduct workshops on digital media monetization and tour Uganda’s tourism landmarks, marking a significant crossover between global sports content and Ugandan digital entrepreneurship.
That will be all for today
Have a Happy Day
